Want to find a remote Island to go diving or shelling on the Beach? Find a lagoon to anchor over night and go on deck to star glaze or what about a location with there are Restaurants or Night-Life where you can take the Dingy ashore as your ‘taxi’? Luxury Sailboat Charters can get you there.
Why deal with the crowds of a Resort Hotel when you can have the most important people in your life with you creating memories and experiences that will be passed on from generation to generation.
Are you concerned about the environment as we are? Well there is no better way to reduce to the impact on the environment then going Sailing; Clean - Green Sailing that is. Modern Yachts even come equipped with solar panels and wind turbines that can store up enough energy to provide a couple of hours of fuel-free-electric motoring. If your planning a Luxury Sailboat Charter ask the skipper if their Sailboats are Green Friendly, so when your 'recharging' your batteries on a luxury vacation so aren't the solar panels above!
- Payment Plan –
if needed, work out a plan to pay for your Charter over time. Find out the method payment accepted. Some Charter Companies charge fees for using credit cards ask if using a check or wire transfer will save on this fee.
- Security Deposit – find out this amount so there are no surprises later when you check your bill plus are they refundable or NON-refundable?
- Travel Insurance –
this is a must. Purchase this so in the event you can’t make it and have to cancel you get your money back for airline tickets, Charter deposit and any other upfront payment needed to confirm your trip.
- Yacht Insurance -
this is also a must. Like a car rental this insurance covers you in the event you damage the Yacht or Sailboat in anyway such as hitting bottom, losing or damaging equipment, scrapping against a dock, etc…
- Included in your Charter –
find out what is included such as emergency support 24/7,
snorkeling equipment, towels and linens, VAT and harbor taxes, cooking gas, dinghy and etc…- Not Included in your Charter –
this is important as well watch for airport transfers, Fuel, Provisions (food and drink), departure cleaning (available for a fee), mooring fees, personal travel insurance, etc…

could be anywhere from 3pm to 6pm. Procedure is minimal, a walk-through of the Yacht, accommodate yourself and the skipper briefs you on the itinerary, basic Yacht operations, etc…
- Bareboat Check-In -
can take about two-hours, typical Bareboat items covered: vessel orientation, operations of sails, technical orientation, map orientation, inventory check, itinerary information, etc…

could take less than an hour but a Bareboat Charter may take longer since the Charter Company will conduct an inspection prior to your exiting the vessel.
- Crew gratuities -
Yacht Charter is a very service orientated type of vacation and it is normal practice to give a crew gratuity of between 10 and 20 percent of the Charter Cost. The Crew will work hard, looking after you and your passengers so the gratuity will be most appreciated. Your gratuity percentage should be based on the quality of service provided.
- Provisions –
(food and beverage) check with the Charter Company, they should be able to provide you with a list of items you can select from where they shop for you and place in the Yacht for your arrival (usually this is free).
Daily items such as dairy products, fruit, bread, meat and fish can be replenished at each port.
- Transfers –
Charter Company should either have an airport shuttle or should be able to recommend for you. Ask the cost and the currency accepted for transfer before getting to the destinations’ airport.
- Cancellation –
again purchase the Travel Insurance, if you do not get the Travel Insurance, canceling could be costly. Get the details from the Charter Outfit before giving your payment.
